Schools Business Partnership
The South Dublin Chamber Schools Business Partnership was formed in 1996 through a joint initiative of Tallaght Partnership and the South Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Initially 22 companies committed to link with seven secondary schools in implementing a programme of activities that was designed to assist schools in preparing young people for work and life, concentrating on areas of significant disadvantage.
To date there is now a total of 23 secondary schools from the Tallaght, Clondalkin, Kimmage, Walkinstown, Crumlin and Drimnagh areas in the partnership. The role of the South Dublin Chamber in this programme is to act as a conduit between businesses and schools.
South Dublin Chamber Schools Business Partnership project was presented with a 'World Class Award' for the project in its entry in the World Chamber Competition, which took place in Quebec, Canada, beating off competition from 65 leading World Chambers of Commerce.
